Many trails in the Regional Park of the Lattari Mountains (Milky Mountains) crisscross the vast beech forests of Mount Faito. In the midst of craggy rock formations and various landscapes the Regional Park is a true treasure of flora and fauna mixed with stunning mountain views and seascapes of both gulfs of Naples and Salerno.
It can be reached by cablecar (April to November) from Castellammare center - in less than 10 minutes you glide from sea level to 1100 m above sea level - or by bus (Vico Equense station).
The path starting from the cablecar mountain station leads you on the crest to the sanctuary San Michele. Once immersed in the shady beech woods you breath clean air. You pass a spring with fresh water, clearings with breathtaking views till you reach the belvedere Piazzale dei Capi to enjoy the outstanding panorama. A short walk takes you back to the cablecar station. Gliding down slowly you say goodbye to the “Mountain by the sea” with a priceless sight to the Gulf of Naples in the face of its giant, Mount Vesuvius.
